Nov. 23, 1923 - Dec. 21, 2002Margaret M. Cusack, 79, Lacey, died peacefully Saturday, December 21, in Providence St. Peter Hospital's loving 3rd floor wing (Olympia). Her daughter and caregiver Andrea held her hand as she passed away into heaven to join her beloved parents Henry Barton and Clara Elgin (McLean) King, husband Thomas Francis Cusack (1994) and granddaughter Danielle Marie Damitio (1986). Also present throughout her bedside vigil was her son-in-law John. Her grandchildren and friends were close-by in thought & prayer.Although Margaret had battled and overcome uterine cancer in 1977, lung cancer and a broken ankle this past November, and had been dealing with various forms of arthritis for years, she succumbed to peritonitis.She was born November 9, 1923 in her grandmother's house in Oakville, WA. Raised in the upper Satsop area, she went to school in Montesano, and then attended jr. college and business school in Aberdeen. She then moved to Portland and then California with her lifelong friend Margie. There she met her husband Tom. They then moved to Wash. D.C., where she married Tom on June 11, 1949, in Mt. Rainier, MD. Several years later they returned to Southern CA where she settled and raised her family. In 1980 she moved back home to WA with her husband, daughters, and best friend Lola and her family, where she resided in Olympia and then in Lacey next to her daughter and family until her death.Margaret was an extremely creative, artistic, and classy lady. She loved to sew, garden, cook, do crosswords, and was always a farm girl at heart. Raising and tending to her family was very important to her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend.Surviving Mrs. Cusack are daughter Andrea M. Damitio and her husband John (Lacey), their children Jacquelynn (Seattle), and Alexandra and Kevin Thomas of the family home; daughter Jennifer A. Cusack; sister Catherine Tomlin (Montesano); and MANY dear and loving friends, both here and in California.As Margaret was recently baptized, a funeral mass for her will joyously begin at Noon on Friday, December 27 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Olympia, with a reception following. Burial will be in the Satsop Cemetery, Elma, WA. All friends are welcome.The family suggests memorial donations to be made in Margaret's name to the Providence St. Peter Health Foundation, 413 Lilly Rd., Olympia, WA 98506, the SIDS Foundation of WA, 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103, the Western WA Oncology Relay for Life Fund, 200 Lilly Rd.
