Marilyn Ritter Obituary

Marilyn Kaye (Smith) Ritter was born on February 18, 1940 in Roy, Washington to Bert M. Smith and Eletha (Harvey) Smith. She lost her battle with cancer on October 7, 2006. Marilyn was raised in Roy, and married Arthur J. "Dewey" Ritter on April 28, 1956. They moved to Olympia, Washington and settled on South Bay Road in 1963. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past April. She enjoyed her family, backyard barbecues, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Marilyn is survived by her husband; and children, Colleen Smith, Katheryn (Lloyd) Jones, Sharron Ritter, and Douglas Ritter, all of Olympia, and Maleia (Barry) Jones, of Tulare, California. Her grandchildren who miss her dearly are Kim Johnson, Mandie (Jones) Cedergreen, Dan Jones, Charlie Johnson, Joshua Jones, Alex Jones, Brittany (Johnson) Montano, Kristen Jones, Jacob Ritter, Cody Jones, Kelley Johnson, and Haleigh Jones; along with her great- grandchildren, Emma and Jace Cedergreen and Joseph Jones. Her surviving brothers are Milton H. (Barbara) Smith, of St. Augustine, Florida, and Bert L. (Dorothy) Smith, of Yuma, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bob Smith. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and a funeral will be on Thursday, October 12, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., both at Mills & Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater. Burial will follow the funeral at Odd Fellows Memorial Park in Tumwater.
