Olav Kaldestad Obituary

Olav Kaldestad died suddenly on Sunday, October 16, 2005. Olav was born on November 30, 1927 in Os, Norway to Torgeir and Olea (Vik) Kaldestad. Olav earned his Electrical Engineering degree from the Technical College in Bergen in 1952, and then immigrated to Seattle. He then worked for one year to save up enough money to bring his future bride, Anna Kulild, to this country. He married Anna in 1953, and they had three children. They moved to Tacoma in 1955, and to Hoquiam in 1959, where Olav worked as an Electrical Engineer at Lamb-Grays Harbor until he retired in 1991. After Olav retired, he and Anna moved to Lacey and became very active in their church, Christ the Servant Lutheran Church. He sang in the Normanna Male Choir in Tacoma, and was a member of the Sons of Norway and Nordlandslaget. Olav is survived by his wife, Anna, of Lacey; three children, Toril Frost, Linda Petkevicius, and Roy Kaldestad; a daughter-in-law, Karen Kaldestad; two sons-in-law, Kevin Frost and Roman Petkevicius; and seven grandchildren, Keith Frost, Arianna Petkevicius, Max Petkevicius, Brooke Petkevicius, Allie Kaldestad, Joe Kaldestad, and Christie Kaldestad. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, and will be missed greatly. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at the Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 4300 Carpenter Road S.E., Lacey, Washington, 98503.
