Richard "Dick" Durward
"Old Meat in the Pot" is spouting fire and game bags are bursting once again for Richard "Dick" Durward. Dick passed-on peacefully, in his home, this past Saturday, November 13, 2010, with his wife of forty years, Audree, by his side. Some have said that he's happily pulling levers at the Heaven-Can-Wait Casino, but others beg to differ. They say that without a doubt, he's walking tall and proud among the evergreens and along the Hogbacks, with some of the best company you or I have ever known. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I met Dick for the first time back in 1980 when he was just a youngster pushing 60. Dick and Audree (as well as their children) have always treated me as "family" and I have always thought of him as my "shirt-tail relative". I have great memories of spending time with "Grandpa Dick" or as I like to call him "Tricky Dicky" ranging from sitting in his hot tub, bottom fishing out of Westport, riding the razors edge of death on the Columbia Bar with the "boss man" as the "check writer" on shore worried about us during an excursion of salmon fishing with my little sister Kelli, and my brother from another mother JImmy, sampling the ever present supply of game sausage and pepperoni, admiring his collection of firearms, listening to the stories around the campfire, tasting his wine, and catching an elbow and a wink as the "ladies" went by us while we watched the Tumwater parade. I'll miss seeing Dick around but I take comfort in knowing he lived a good long life and was loved by all. My condolences go out Grandma Audree along with Richy, and Lynda, and all of his other children and decendants. He was one of the "good guys" and I will miss him. Love Chris
