Richard Gribbin Obituary

Richard C. Gribbin passed away June 14, 2002 after an adventurous life. He was born June 7, 1933 to A.J. and Ruth Gribbin. He grew up in Seattle and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1951. He joined the U.S. Navy, served proudly on the submarine Diablo and was discharged with honors in 1955. After a year of courtship, he married Phyllis Vonell Lincoln whom he met while skiing at Dutch Hill, Vermont. They moved to Bellingham, Wash. in 1956, while Richard earned his teaching degree. He taught two years in South Bend, Wash. then moved to Olympia, teaching art at North Thurston High School, retiring in 1988. Richard was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather who devoted himself to his family. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis; daughter, Debra Warren and her husband Glenn of Lacey; daughter Kim Koreis and her husband Allen of Olympia; grandchildren, Jennifer and Heather Warren, Bryan, T.J., and Melissa Koreis; sister, Kay Dickenson-Bates; cousin, Patty Johnson and extended family, out of state. He will always be loved and missed by his family.A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 22nd, at Calvary Chapel on Division St. at 1:00 p.m. Your presence is welcome.
