Olympia, Washington - Pastor Sandra Kreis,80, passed away November 1, 2022, in Olympia, WA. She was born in Seattle on Sept 5, 1942. She was married for 53 years to Roger Kreis, and had two children, Jacob Kreis, and Joanna Kreis Jacobson. Sandra was a graduate of PLU, and Union Theological Seminary in New York. She served several churches in the northwest including Concrete, Puyallup, Aberdeen, and Olympia. Before ordination she was a campus minister at WSU, Eastern, and Skagit Valley College. Sandra was one of the very first to accomplish a woman's ordination with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. She taught Philosophy of Religion at Skagit Valley College, and initiated a ministry of drop out, and runaway youths in Seattle that was funded by seven Lutheran churches, and the city of Seattle. A funeral of celebration will be held November 12, 2022, 11:30 am, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1515 Harrison Ave NW, Olympia, WA 98502 Memorial donations are suggested to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Sandy was an active member of our Class of '60 at Lake rWashington High School in Kirkland, Washington. She was an integral part of our 50th Reunion in 2010, and helped to make it our best ever. Sandy's ideas were among the best of our group, and always with a smile on her face. She has maintained friendships with many in our class for over 60 years, and will be missed by all of us. Many of us never knew she was in the ministry, but she was perfect for it. Rest in peace, dear sister.
