Hello Jim, I heard of your mom's passing through Anne Reebs. I am so sorry. I have some wonderful memories of your mother. Her picture makes me smile and she is as lovely as I remember when we were in high school. I am sorry for your loss. Julie Nelson von Geldern

I was so shocked to hear of her passing. She was a classmate celebrating our 70th anniv. of grad. from H.S. She kept all of the remaining members of the class with updates on addr's, tele. no's and health. We will be lost without her. I talked to her only about 3 wks ago. we enjoyed remembering old times and again we will miss her terribly. Lyle Schrum.

We lived next door to the Morris family in Hazel Dell 40+ years ago. Virginia and Roy were always very friendly neighbors, as were Ed and Jim. My sincerest condolences.

Hello,
I'm the local Manning, Iowa, historian and just found out about the passing of Virginia from one of her classmates here in Manning.
In 2005, Virginia sent me a few pictures and items of Manning history to scan for the Manning database I'm working on and the Manning Quasqui history book.
One thing lead to another and I never got back to Virginia about her military service.
We are now working on a Manning Veterans' history book project which will feature over 1000 Manning connected Veterans.
I only have 1 small Manning Monitor article about her service and no pictures. This website will show that information and also has my e-mail address. http://www.davidkusel.com/veteran/hframe2.htm
I hope we can work together so Virginia can be honored with the over 1000 other Veterans in this very unique Manning history book.
Thanks
Dave

Mrs. Morris was a wonderful, colorful teacher at Ridgefield and Sara grade school. She always kept the kids in check...and her long nails always fascinated us. She was so enjoyable. And, then to drag race..what a gal who was so full of energy. We hope we can be as interesting as she was. She will be missed and was definitely appreciated. Sorry for your family loss.

Our beloved "Mrs Morris" will remain in our hearts and memories forever. We first met when my son Jim, 8 years old was a student in her 3rd grade class at Kenton School. My daughter Roianne was in her class the following year. She was such an easy person to know and like...so kind, caring, down to earth and so interested in the well being of our children. Such a great sense of humor and being the Mother of 4 boys, she knew how to deal with our kids in such a special way that all the students RESPECTED her even when being disciplined. My children still have the Fairy Tale book she gave them one Christmas and they are now reading those stories to their grandchildren. I'm still using the beautifully embroidered pillowcases and tea towels that she so lovingly made and shared. "Mrs Morris was one of a kind and it can be said, "they don't make them like her anymore". It's been a wonderful privilege and honor to have been friends and pen pals with this beautiful Lady for 50 years. We shall keep our Memories of "Mrs Morris" in our hearts forever. You will be greatly missed "Mrs. Morris". Jeanne Young and Family Portland, Oregon

Virginia was a Mom to her 4 sons, influential grandmother to her own grandchildren, and to more who claimed her as their own grandmother. She truly cared for her family and wanted them all to succeed in their achievements in life and wished them much happiness. Just like these pictures of her show, she had that spark that kept everyone on their toes and on the move. She and Roy,Sr. helped our family so much and I will be forever grateful to them. We all will truly miss her sense of humor and the many updates about friends and family news. It was an honor and a privilege to know her and have her in our lives. She truly touched us in many ways. Her passing left a little hole in our hearts which we can fill up with the good memories of her and her love. She is sincerely missed by us all.

Virginia was my husbands "second Mother". She instilled in him a love of learning and nutured him when he needed it very much. With her husband Roy many students especially from Yacolt grew stronger and wiser. God's Speed Virginia!

I met Virginia Morris' chocolate chip cookies back in 1969, right before I met her. Her youngest son Jim brought me home after school one day, as we had recently met during football practice. You never know what to expect when you meet a friends mother for the first time. We stepped in the kitchen door. The fridge was on the left. Jim immediately reached for a tin film canister that was waiting on top and opened it. Wow! Magic! Cookies! Fresh chocolate chip! It was one of those rare wonderful impressions that is frozen in time and space for me. An eternal moment. We helped ourselves. And then Mrs. Morris walked in and Jim introduced me to her. She made me feel so welcome, like she was truly happy to meet me. Glad that I had been brought to her home . . . some forty-five years ago. I can't remember when I saw Virginia last, but my wife Anne and I had Jim and Cheryl over for dinner a year ago. “I have something for you,” Jim said, “It's from my mom.” He handed me a plastic baggie with some cookies in it. Her way of saying that she still remembered me. That she cared. It meant so much to me. Still does. Seems so small, doesn't it? But I loved that woman.
