Brian Wayne Liechty
June 19, 1958 - March 30, 2021
Brian Wayne Liechty passed away on March 30, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy battle with Covid Pneumonia. Brian was born in Naperville, Ill., on June 19, 1958, while his father was attending seminary there. His parents, Ronald Wayne Liechty and Marilyn (Gray) Liechty, as well as his sister Sheryl Ann Liechty preceded him in death.
Brian is survived by his wife, Becky Liechty, and his stepmother, Anna Bach (Liechty). The family circle includes four children and their spouses: Tristan (Alexis) Liechty, Jessica (Rick) Beatty, Erica (Adam) Nagel, and Brian (Abbey) Ambrose along with eight grandchildren. His surviving siblings include his sister, Lynn (Larry) Peterson, and blended family siblings Audrey (Dean) Lorraine, Bryan (Billie) Crable, and Debbie (Damon) Bush.
A longtime entrepreneur, Brian provided insurance services in the Plymouth community since 1991. Brian held a number of state legislative positions with the Indiana State Association of Health Underwriters, serving also as the President and as a charter member of the local chapter in South Bend. Brian enjoyed serving the community, taking his father's place on Plymouth's Community Resource Center Board and serving as the President of the Broadway Theater League in South Bend.
Beyond loving his family and profession, Brian loved life. He shared his gifts with the Maxinkuckee Players and Singers, performing in many musicals and concerts, as well as creating and built sets for the plays. He also enjoyed sharing his talents with his First United Methodist Church family whether he was singing tenor in the Chancel Choir or chairing the committee to restore the sanctuary. Brian was always ready for a road trip to nowhere! The new motorhome was part of his retirement plan, and he and Becky had begun to explore new destinations. Brian's greatest treasure, however, was his orange Miata convertible "Sunny." On a warm day, in an orange shirt, locals could see him zooming, TPLS4VR to the office and around town.
Those who wish to honor Brian Liechty with a donation are asked to share a gift in his name to the Rebuilding First Church Fund for First United Methodist Church in Plymouth. Donations for the sanctuary repair may be sent to Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, Ind. 46563.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 6, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center Street, Plymouth. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, at 11 a.m., also at the church. Pastor Tony Carmer will be officiating. In light of continuing concerns related to Covid-19, wearing face masks and social distancing will be required.
The family thanks their friends and community for their support during these difficult times.
Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home is privileged to be entrusted with arrangements.
