Listen to me you whom I have upheld since you were conceived and have carried since your birth.
Jerry was born on March 2, 1948, in Plymouth to the late Noble and Ida (Kanarr) Holderead. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1966 and attended Manchester College from where he graduated in 1970 with Distinction.
Jerry married his lifelong love, Jeanine (Chase) Holderead, on August 30, 1969.
While he subsequently taught at Marion High School in Marion, he never lost his love of learning and obtained his M.P.A. from Ball State University in 1972. In 1977, he completed his J.D. Magna Cum Laude from Indiana University School of Law. He remained in Marion after Law School and became a partner in the law firm of Spitzer Herriman Stephenson Holderead Conner and Persinger where he practiced law for the next thirty-nine years.
Besides being dedicated to the practice of law and his clients, he was also dedicated to the betterment of his community. He was a board member for the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, president of the Grant County Chapter of the American Red Cross, president of the Grant-Blackford Developmental Services, Inc., president of the Community Foundation of Grant County, vice chairman of the Grant County Chamber of Commerce, chair of the board of Marion General Hospital, president of Family Service Society, Inc., chairman of Indiana Wesleyan University Citizen's Advisory Committee, past president of the Grant County Bar Association, member of Meshingomesia Country Club, United Way Allocation Committee member, board member and treasurer of Marion Public Library, and adjunct professor of Business Law at Taylor University for over 25 years. He had been an elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was a member of College Wesleyan Church. Jerry was also a speaker and authored materials for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum.
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he. I am he who will sustain you.
Jerry is survived by his wife; his children, Marc (Ashley) Holderead, Marion, and Lisa Holderead, Fishers; grandchildren, Lena and Ian Holderead; sister, Susan (Garen) Bushong, Manchester; niece, Rachel (Chris) Pyle; and a nephew, Andy Bushong.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. at College Wesleyan Church on Thursday, January 26, 2017, and from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017. Funeral services begin at 10 a.m. with Pastor Steve DeNeff officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth, IN.
Memorials can be made to College Wesleyan Church/Outreach, Community Foundation of Grant County, or the Marion Public Library.
