Larry Setnor Obituary

Larry Gene Setnor
August 30,1949 - May 18, 2021

Larry Gene Setnor, 71, of Deland, Fla., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 18, with his loving wife, Jamie, at his side. He spent his final hours with his wife and sons listening to the rarest of events: a Cubs win.
Larry was born on Aug. 30, 1949 to Wesley and Mary Louise Setnor (Howard) in Rensselaer.
After graduating from Liberty High School in 1967, he went on to work for NIPSCO as a welder and area manager.
Larry was an involved father who raised five boys. He was a quiet man, but gave tremendously strong hugs, was easy to get along with, and was quick to offer a welcoming beer. When he was not coaching Little League teams to Walkerton Little League championships his children remember him playing softball, golf, basketball, and sand volleyball. Larry loved movies and music. Spaghetti Westerns, Patsy Cline, and Roy Orbison were always on the house.
Anyone who knew Larry knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Larry was predeceased by his two parents and his favorite two pets Matilda and Smudge. He is survived by his siblings Michael (Linda) Setnor, Joe (Pat) Setnor, and Sandy (Mark) Easterday; his sons Denny (Kim), Casey (Lisa), Shane (Blair), Joseph (Laura), and Brett Thomas; And his eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Walkerton Little League. There will be a celebration of life held on July 31 at the American Legion in Walkerton from 4 to 7 p.m.
If you cannot make it to the celebration, the family asks that you frequent a local dive bar and overtip the bartender in his memory.
