Marcus Aaron Lee, age 54 of Elwood, died Nov. 4, 2025 at Indiana Heart & Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Aug. 27, 1971 in Elwood to Ralph and Mildred (Bogard) Lee. Marcus was a 1990 graduate of Elwood Community High School before entering the U.S. Navy. He proudly served in the Navy as a Missile Technician, MT3 (SS) on the USS Simon Bolivar during the Gulf War and remained a devoted patriot for his country all of his life. Marcus worked as a risk and safety consultant for many years for Royal & Sunalliance where he took great pride in the quality of his work. Marcus never met a stranger and could initiate a conversation with almost anyone, anywhere. Family was truly the center of Marcus' life. He cherished time spent with them. Marcus was a member of the NRA, Elwood Conversation Club, and was an avid gun enthusiast.
Marcus' family includes his daughters, Rebeca (Tim) Flannery of Elkton, Maryland and Abigale (Stephen) Foy of Medaryville; son, Philip Morris of Plymouth; two sisters, Doris Lee-Shaw of Muncie and Sharon (Brian) Haynes of Elwood; two grandchildren, Laila Elizabeth Flannery and Abraham Sutton Foy; a grandson expected soon, Liam Aaron Flannery; and several nieces and nephews. Marcus was preceded in death by his parents and a special grandmother, Cora Bogard.
Marcus' funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Tim Hester officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. A gathering will follow the burial at the Elwood Conversation Club. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral on Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorials: NRA through the funeral home. Condolences: copherfeslermay.com.

I am so very sorry to hear that Marcus has passed. I have only the finest memories of him as a student in my math class at Elwood Junior High School. He showed a sense of responsibility and forward-thinking far beyond his years. My prayers to your family in the days ahead.

I absolutely loved to talk with Marcus at family events growing up and several family reunions. He was always so full of life and a great story teller. He could make you smile at any given time. Marcus will certainly be missed. My deepest condolences to Sharon, Doris and all of Marcus loved ones.

Marcus was a remarkable man whose presence will be deeply missed. He had a natural warmth and kindness that touched everyone he met, and our family cherished the time we spent with him. His sense of humor was infectious, and he always had a story ready to share, bringing laughter and connection wherever he went.

We fondly remember when Marcus joined us for a family member’s 21st birthday celebration. He fit in effortlessly, engaging with everyone as if he’d been part of the family for years. News of his passing brought sadness to all of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Above all, Marcus was a devoted father and a wonderful father-in-law to our son. Their bond was truly special, and we were grateful for the way Marcus embraced him with love and acceptance. The late-night phone conversations they shared were a testament to Marcus’s unwavering support and care.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved, and we will always remember him with affection and gratitude.

Marcus was good friend we frequently would talk at the gun shop I worked at for hours we kept in good contact. Having a day to speak and see Marcus would lift everyone´s spirits. And the stories the man would tell were always fantastic. I´ve picked up several strange habits passed on from him that just make sense such as in the summer keeping a small cooler with a cold towel. Fresh toilet paper (only the best for his hinny would be something he would say) water and snacks.

We kept in contact regularly when I moved away and he would often send me and my wife funny pictures or stories! And we would catch up with what felt like a paragraph of texts as we gave each other updates about our lives

Any opportunity something fun would happen he was always eager to share with us .
