Thomas Houghton Obituary

Plymouth – Thomas E. Houghton IV, 73, passed away surrounded by his family on Aug. 31, 2025 at the Center for Hospice Care Ernestine M. Raclin House in Mishawaka. Born on April 9, 1952 in Plymouth, Tom was the son of Thomas E. and Marjorie J. (Padgett) Houghton.
Graduating from Plymouth High School in 1970, Tom went on to work in construction. While in high school, Tom met Betty Wilcockson. They went their separate ways in life and later reconnected. The two have been faithful life partners to each other and have made countless memories together during the last 15 years.
Those who knew Tom, knew that he was the life of the party who loved telling stories and making others laugh. He always had the biggest smile when his family was together during the holidays, watching his favorite cowboy movies like "Gunsmoke", or taking a trip to visit friends in Florida. Tom enjoyed snacking on his favorite ice cream or sipping a glass of whiskey. On a sunny afternoon, you could find him driving his sports car on his way to play a game of golf at Pretty Lake Golf Course or watching Notre Dame Football.
Tom was a faithful Christian. He grew up attending the First United Methodist Church and more recently attended St. Michael Catholic Church.
Tom will be missed by his daughters, Alyse (John) Keultjes and Ashley (Josh) Salazar and their fur-babies, Cuddles and Max; his life partner, Betty Wilcockson; siblings, Harley (Christine) Houghton and Steven (Terry) Houghton. Family was at the heart of what Tom cared about most.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marjorie.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Life Celebrant James Smart officiating.
Tom will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth.
Memorial contributions can be directed to Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home towards Tom's funeral expenses.
