Walter Allard Obituary

Walter R. "Buddy" Allard, Jr., 67, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away at 12:28 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 7, 1950 in Connersville, he was the son of Walter R. Allard and Laura V. (Moore) Frey.
He attended Connersville High School before joining the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he served two tours of duty. On Jan. 16, 1971 he married Virginia R. Banks in South Whitley.
Bud would retire from the U.S. Army with over 20 years of service and had also worked at Miller's Merry Manor, the Fort Wayne Foundry in Columbia City and was a greeter at Wal-Mart. He was a member of Fort Wayne Primitive Baptist Church and the Eagles.
Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 47 years, Jenny Allard; son, Walter "Buster" (Lisa) Allard, III, of Columbia City; daughter, Michele "Renee" (Basel) Hale, of Ozark, Mo.; mother, Laura (Frank) Frey, of Columbia City; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Shannon Groce; and in-laws, Chester and Coy Banks.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Nathan Meeks officiating. Burial will follow at Union Township Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be given in his memory to Primitive Baptist Church.
