Carl Gilligan Obituary

COALPORT - Carl M. Gilligan, 91, of Coalport, died Dec. 17, 2019.

Born Dec. 26, 1927 in Coalport, son of the late Harry and Elicia (Heil) Gilligan.

Preceded in death by brothers, Earl and Donald.

Survived by nephews, Donald "Tom" (Linda) Gilligan and Kevin (Linda) Gilligan of Venice, Fla.; niece, Jetta (Rolf) Borg of Stockholm, Sweden; a great-nephew and three great nieces. Also survived by special caregivers, Ken and Judy Keith of Coalport.

Carl was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a first lieutenant and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal with Letter V.

He enjoyed traveling, and he was active with the Salvation Army. He served on the Utahville Cemetery Committee for many years. Carl was a member of the Coalport United Methodist Church for 74 years and was a Mason.

Friends will be received from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019 at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St., Coalport.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2019 at the Coalport United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thomas McGill officiating.

Committal will be at Utahville Cemetery.

Military Rites in charge of Coalport VFW.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Salvation Army, 1757 Main St., Coalport, PA 16627 in Carl's memory.
