DANIEL LIEGEY Obituary

CRAIGSVILLE, W. Va. - Daniel A. Liegey, 69, of Craigsville, W. Va., formerly of Olanta, passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024 at his home after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was born Sept. 17, 1954 in Clearfield, the son of Milford and Helen (Gormont) Liegey.

Daniel had attended Clearfield Area High School.

Mr. Liegey, at the age of 18, went to work for the railroad starting out on the Track Team working up to brakeman and then as train engineer for Conrail. He retired from Norfolk Southern as a train master.

He was a member of the Clearfield Cycle Club having been one of the original founders. Daniel also enjoyed scuba diving, boating, shooting pole in leagues around Clearfield and the outdoors, especially hunting and camping.

Daniel is survived by his two sons, Daniel Liegey of Kansas and Drew Liegey of Washington, and their mother, Dee (Ramsey) Liegey of Kansas; two grandchildren, Daniel "DJ" and Maggie; three siblings, Charlene Randall and her husband Ray of Wichita, Kans., Mark Liegey of Clearfield and Tia Lansberry and her husband Craig of Woodland; two nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, Paul Liegey.

Honoring Daniel's wishes there will be no public visitation or services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Ste. 1509, New York, N.Y. 10018; or a charity of the donor's choice.
