Goldie Marshall Obituary

PHILIPSBURG - Goldie Marshall, 78, of RD Philipsburg, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at her residence.

She was born on Sept. 19, 1947, in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Betty Peese. She was named Betty after her mother. However, she was raised by her brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Evelyn, and took their last name, Summers. Throughout her life, most family and friends would come to know her by the nickname, "Goldie."

She was a 1965 graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School. She was also a graduate of the Empire Beauty School.

Throughout most of her working career, she owned and operated her own beauty salons. She was also employed for a period of time with Polestar Plastics, of State College. Goldie also worked part-time tending bar at the Philipsburg VFW and Sutton's in Hawk Run. She also tended bar and cooked at the Philipsburg American Legion and the former Reliance Club.

Goldie was a Life Member of the Philipsburg VFW Auxiliary; a Charter Member of the Philipsburg AMVETS Auxiliary; Philipsburg American Legion Auxiliary; the Philipsburg B.P.O.Elks Lodge and Country Club; the Osceola Mills Moose Lodge; and the Carpathian Club in Hawk Run.

Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed shooting darts and pool, bowling, dancing, playing softball and working on her crossword puzzles.

Goldie was married on June 29, 2024, to John K. "Jack" McDonald, who survives at home.

She is also survived by her daughter, Heather M. Fishburn (Bill), of Bellefonte; three sons: Christopher T. Marshall (Grace), of State College, Brian S. Marshall (Christi), of Clearfield and Chad D. Marshall (Luanna), of Snow Shoe; seven grandchildren: Kasey L. Rose (Travis), of Georgia, Kyle D. Fishburn, of Bellefonte, Kolton D. Fishburn, of Bellefonte, Taylor M. Marshall, of Clearfield, Stephanie L. Marshall, of Bellefonte, Christopher W. Narehood, of Snow Shoe and Megan C. Dudish, of Snow Shoe; six sisters: Mary Schreffler, Caroline "Cookie" Weaver, Norma Moyer (Rick), Connie Noll, Sandra Lutz (Ira) and Debra Colbert, all of Bellefonte; and numerous other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother; a sister, Kathy Peese; and six brothers: Don, Jack and Dave Peese and Dennis, Terry and Harry Summers.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, from 1-3 p.m., at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made in Goldie's memory to a local SPCA or to the Allegheny Spay and Neuter Clinic, 1380 Shawville Hwy, Woodland, PA 16881.
