IRIS BUZZANCA Obituary
Maxine was born on Feb. 2, 1927 in Bethelridge, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle (Johnson) Smith.
In search of employment, her family moved to Clearfield in 1933, where Maxine would reside for her entire life.
Maxine started her first job at age 16, working as a seamstress at Clearfield Sportswear. Through the years she was also employed by Kent's Sportswear and McGregor's, earning the reputation as a master seamstress and a valued employee.
On Aug.t 26, 1943 she married Nathan Patrick Buzzanca, Sr., and as well as being a homemaker, became a working mother.
Their 60-year marriage resulted in five children; Margaret "Bonnie" Buzzanca, Maria "Rose" Odrosky, Linda Ann Johnston, Debra Jean Yingling and Nathan Patrick Buzzanca, Jr.; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret F. Carrier Giuffre; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Madge Grace; a granddaughter, Melanie Johnston; and a grandson, Gregory Odrosky, Jr.
Maxine enjoyed working, sewing and reading (preferring murder mystery and historic biographies). In addition to her great talents as a seamstress, she was known for her beautiful flower gardens, her lovely handmade crochet lace, her excellent homestyle cooking and baking and a great love of dogs and all animals.
Graveside Services will be private at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Brandon M. Kleckner officiating.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield County SPCA, 275 21st St., Clearfield, PA 16830; St. Francis Catholic Church, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, PA 16830; or Parkinson's Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Ste. 1509, New York, NY 10018.
