John C. Kelley

1924 - 2025

DRIFTING - John C. Kelley, 100, of Drifting, died Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 4 p.m.

Born Nov. 6, 1924 in Clearfield, he was the son of Charles and Mary Roskelley.

John proudly served in the US Navy as a Second-Class Signalman.

John was a kind, dedicated husband, father and a beacon of faith and hard working for both his family and community.

He was an electrical meter repairman with GE, and a sole proprietor instrument technician whose business spanned the greater east coast. He resided in Northeast Philadelphia and along the Sassafras River in Maryland before returning home to Drifting where he was born and the place he loved most. An industrious hard working and gentle man, John enjoyed making and fixing things with his hands. From engines to wood turned bowls, he was always engrossed in projects and gave many of his fine woodworks as gifts. He loved nature and wildlife, and trained hummingbirds to feed from his hand. John was affable and community minded. He was steadfast in his Christian faith and shared scripture with others out of boundless love for the Lord.

His presence in this world will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on through his family and the many blessings he channeled to others.

He is survived by a sister, Joyce Sherman in Alaska. He has four daughters, Barbara Ann Watt of Reva, Va., Patricia Kelley of Philadelphia, Debra Pellegrini of Pocono Lakes, and Kathleen Johnson of Berlin, N.J., and eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Kelley, a sister, Jean Franek, and a brother, Robert Roskelley.

Friends will be received at 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Strange and Weaver Home for Funerals, Morrisdale.
