Rev. Larry Kelley

Rev. Larry Kelley, age 74 of Talking Rock, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 24, 1952, in Canton, Georgia to the late William and Betty Ann Kelley.

Larry was an ordained Baptist minister for more than 44 years and was the longest-serving pastor in Pickens County, having faithfully served Talking Rock First Baptist Church for 35 years.

A humble and faithful servant of the Lord, Larry loved people and dedicated his life to serving others. His ministry reached far beyond his church walls through many mission trips, from Mexico to McDowell County, West Virginia. He also formerly served with Habitat for Humanity in Pickens County and was devoted for many years to the food ministry, "There's Hope for the Hungry."

Larry enjoyed golfing and spending time on his tractor. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved every moment spent with them. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathie Kelley; sons, Keith Aaron Kelley (Kristie) and Scott Lee Kelley (Wendy); grandchildren, Payton Kelley, Haley Kelley, Landen Kelley, Hunter Kelley and Logan Kelley; as well as beloved cousins, church family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ron Rucker officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sosebee Funeral Home on Monday, March 30th from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Tuesday, March 31st from 11 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Landen Kelley, Hunter, Kelley, Logan Kelley, Jason Wheeler, Jimmy Smith and Harold Haygood. Honorary pallbearers will be Haley Kelley, Wes Wheeler and Noah Smith.
