Judy Thurston Obituary

CLEARFIELD - Judy L. Thurston, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from Alzheimer's disease at Mountain Laurel Nursing Home. She was surrounded by family and the wonderful staff at the facility who provided exceptional care to her over her five year stay.

Judy was born on Aug. 30, 1944 in Buffalo, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Frances Sink; a dear aunt, Florence Bull; sisters, Virginia Thayer and Ethel Reed; and brothers, Raymond Sink and Frank Sink.

She is survived by her sister, Sally Allen; brother, Mike Sink; and daughter, Sarah Burrus; along with many nieces and nephews.

Judy was a proud member of the Fillmore Central School graduating class of 1962. She retired from the Pennsylvania State Department of Environmental Protection in 2009 and moved closer to her daughter in her retirement years.

Judy enjoyed reading, going for walks, taking care of her cats, and above all, laughing and joking around with her friends and family.

At her request, there will be no funeral, but a celebration of life gathering will take place on Aug. 30, 2025 from 12-4 p.m. at 7554 County Road 3, Fillmore, NY 14735. It will be a casual come and go gathering. Please join us to share your stories and laughter in her memory.
