JUNE RUSNAK Obituary

PHILIPSBURG - June Elizabeth Rusnak passed away, surrounded by her children, on Dec. 24, 2021 at her Philipsburg home. She was 93.

Born June Elizabeth Stonebraker on May 21, 1928, in West Decatur, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Edna M. (Guthrie) Stonebraker.

June was a 1946 graduate of Philipsburg High School.

On June 21, 1947, she married the late Joseph Lewis Rusnak of Hawk Run. She and her husband moved to Philipsburg where they raised four children, and her husband operated a service station on Front Street. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church in Philipsburg.

Known for her positive attitude, natural charm, and delicious meals, June was a popular friend and host. She loved people and cared deeply for others, affectionately calling everyone "honey." June embodied hard work, good humor, and determination.

After her husband passed away on March 26, 1969, June continued to raise her children on her own. She worked at several local establishments, including W.T. Grant, the Morningstar Bakery, the Quaker grocery store, the S&H Green Stamp Store, and Artley's.

June is survived by her four children, Gerald (Denise) Rusnak of Westerville, Ohio, Karen (Samuel) Sleek, and Joan Robins, both of Philipsburg, and Richard (Darin) Rusnak of State College; four grandchildren, Eric Rusnak of Rush Township, Jennifer Robins of Philipsburg, Craig Rusnak and Keith Rusnak, both of Westerville, Ohio; and six great grandchildren, Corinne, Jacob, Samuel, Wesley, Benjamin, and Margaret Rusnak. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Agnes Rusnak; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and admirers.

June is preceded in death by her husband (Joseph); her parents; five sisters, Leora Willis, Madeline Mayhew, Ethel Scott, Lois "Dot" Beals, and Jean Winters; two brothers, Clair and Kenneth Stonebraker; and a son-in-law, Richard Robins.

She is the last of her generation and the last of her kind.

A private Funeral Mass for the family will be celebrated at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg.

Burial will follow at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Philipsburg.
