Lee Durandetta Obituary

OLANTA - Lee Alex Durandetta, 83, of Olanta, passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

Born May 26, 1941 in Bradford, he was the son of Alex Nino and Geraldine (Witherow) Durandetta. He was a 1959 graduate of Curwensville Area High School. Lee was the owner operator of Maple Farms Dairy for over 60 years. He was a former member of the Olanta Grange.

Lee was a farmer by trade, yet his legacy will transcend far beyond the land he cultivated and nurtured. Throughout his life he created a lineage of wisdom, values of hard work, and resilience that will continue to be passed down for generations. Lee was proud of the family he created. He never missed a sporting event for his grandchildren, and he beamed with pride for each additional great-grandchild that came along over the years.

He is survived by his former wife, Sharon Durandetta, with whom he remained close friends; and their children, Kelli Conley (Robert) of Curwensville, Shawn Durandetta, Shay Durandetta (Betsy) all of Olanta, and Shelli Hoover (Steve) Curwensville; eight grandchildren, Tangi Borden (Matt), Brandin Nelson (Danielle), Kirsten Hayward, Brent Durandetta, Ashley Shearer (Robert), Megan Durandetta, Keisha Harvey (Dustin) and Shayla Ferraro (Joe); 10 great grandchildren, Berkeley Borden, Myiah, Alachia, Talia Nelson, Aevril, Teaguen, River Hayward, Ethan Shearer, Koen Harvey, and Kaylee Ferraro; three sisters, Irene Clark of Olanta, Sandra Fleck (Elwood) of Curwensville, and Audrey Leach (Bob) of South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Lee Durandetta will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Shields officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomington Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Curwensville Golden Tide Football Club, 650 Beech St. Curwensville, PA, 16833.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something nice for someone else, unexpectedly, and without explanation.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the dedicated staff in the Memory Unit at McKinley Health Care for the compassionate care they provided over the last few years.

The Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville is in charge of arrangements.

As a kid, I spent many summers days running around the Durandetta farm, milking cows, chasing chicken and crawling through hay bales in the barn.

Also play baseball with Shawn for a few years on the little league team named "Superior Pet" and had great childhood memories of the Durandetta family during those years.

Most kids today never have the opportunity to experience a farm, so I consider myself one of the lucky ones.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I have so many fond memories of being on the farm with Kelli as a young girl. I was able to see first hand how a dairy farm worked, and how extremely hard Lee worked the farm. It gave me experiences I will never forget. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
