LOUISE WEHRMANN Obituary

HOUTZDALE - The world lost a bright star on Saturday, March 25 when Louise Teresa Wehrmann passed away at home at the age of 101.

She was born June 5, 1921 to Nicolene and Charles Cravotta in Blacklick, Indiana County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Angelo (Ruth) Cravotta, Phillip (Eva) Cravotta and Josephine (Joseph) DiStefano and her niece Yvonne Cravotta.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Susan (Ronald) Archer, Lorraine (Bill) Giovaniello and Nicole Wehrmann; her grandchildren, Cindy Schmidt (Dorr Glover), Christine Giovaniello (Eguzkine Egana), Doreen Giovaniello, Bill Giovaniello, Stephanie Archer, Mike Archer (Janine), Tyler Coleman and Arianne Williams; her great grandchildren Sierra (Toran) Quinlan, Breanna (Cole) Yanni, Jacob Archer, Samantha Archer and Gia Camacho; as well as her two great-great grandsons, Gio and Rory. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Over the past years, she was for cared by wonderful caregivers from Comfort Keepers who were also special to her.

Louise was a talented artist who enjoyed painting and ceramics with her grandchildren. She was a free spirited adventurer, traveling solo to Italy to visit her family and explore Italia. She shared her quick wit, love of music, the arts, fashion and jewelry with all who knew her. As a teen, she won a singing contest on the radio. She was always 'dressed to the nines' complete with long earrings - even when just going to the store.

She found beauty in everything and her smile and twinkle in her eyes would light up any room.

Family was the center of her world and she received their abundant love in return. Nan, as she was called, has made countless memories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren whether it was climbing a tree or taking Snapchat selfies. Nan was already for a game of gin rummy and usually won.

"How lucky are we to have had you in our lives. We love you a bushel and a peck."

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.

The Rev. Fr. William Ellis will preside over the funeral service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Rev. Fr. Andrew Corriente will preside over a committal service Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 1:45 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery Mausoleum, 845 Rose St., Indiana. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Louise's memory to the Houtzdale Lions Club, c/o Donna Ellis, 203 Dorthea St., Houtzdale, PA 16651.

I met Louise when she moved in the Houtzdale Apts. She was my neighbor and she was like a ray of sunshine. Louise was quite the decorator and her apartment was like walking into a magazine, absolutely beautiful. She would give me advice on what decor would go best with the items I had. She was always dressed as if she were going out for the evening. She was a stunning beautiful strong woman and I was very found of her. When she moved from the building she was missed. I remember her 100th birthday. What a blessing it was to wish this loving lady a happy birthday. Louise, your family must be so proud of the "lady" you were. Thank you for the things you taught me when we were neighbors. I will always remember you. I know you will shine bright in heaven.

Louise was a special lady...she was a customer where I worked but became a friend. I loved visiting her and taking her to the "Boutique" to look for treasures. I have some special memories of our visits, often having a meal together. I´m blessed to have known her.
