M. Franklin "Frank" Voinchet

1933 - 2025

LANSE - M. Franklin Voinchet "Frank" 92 of Lanse, passed away peacefully Nov. 27, 2025, in the memory care unit at the Preserve at Cedarwood in Tyrone.

Frank was born in Frenchville on Jan. 6, 1933. He is preceded in death by his parents Edith Perrot Voinchet and Francis Voinchet. His surviving siblings are Eileen Pisaneschi of Frenchville and Mary Stewart of Clearfield and several nieces and nephews. His deceased siblings are Frances Williams of Towanda and R. George Voinchet of Pittsburgh.

He was a 1951 graduate of Clearfield Area High School. He served in the U.S. Army 1953-1955. A charter member of the Frenchville VFW Post # 8386.

On June 29, 1957 he wed Violet Mae Smeal of Wallaceton. Violet passed away Dec. 29, 2007. His four children are Susan Chiodo (husband Jermaine) of Aliquippa, Mark Voinchet of Wallaceton, Laurie Voinchet, State College, and Michael Voinchet of Lanse; grandchildren, Christopher Coover of Michigan, Jennifer (husband Eric) Lechene of Houston, Jessica Coover of York; great-grandchildren, Evan and Amsey Lechene and Mattica Sheaffer.

His lifelong career was a mechanic and he retired from PennDOT in 1998.

Frank was a friend to many and well known for his ability to repair any of machinery for anyone in need. He enjoyed going to stock car races and watching Nascar racing and football.

Visitation will be held at Strange and Weaver Funeral Service in Morrisdale on Sunday Nov. 30, 2025 from 1 - 5 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frenchville on Monday Dec. 1, 2025 at Noon with Father Johnathan Schmolt as celebrant.

He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery next to his wife.

The family would especially like to thank his personal care giver Maria Goss of Tyrone and the entire Preserve staff for his care over the last few years.
