MARY HUGHES Obituary

PHILIPSBURG - Mary D. Hughes, 78, of Philipsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at her residence.

Mary was born on Jan. 15, 1943, in Morrisdale, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Batcho) Sheroke.

Mary was married on July 2, 1960, in Philipsburg, to Joseph Starline Hughes, Sr., who preceded her in death on March 16, 1998.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Josephine, Dorothy, Laura and Mae; and two brothers, Robert and John "Fuzz."

She is survived by five daughters,Tonia Bush (Terry), Rhonda Seefeldt (Brian), Shelly Maurer (Miles), Joni Hayward (Doug) and Mary Jo Huss (John); one son, Joseph Hughes, Jr. (Keri); three sisters: Shirley Kelce, Marie McClellan (Les) and Joanna Anawald; one brother, Richard Sheroke; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was also known as "Mommy Mary" by the numerous children that she babysat and took care of over the years.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to the Moshannon Valley YMCA, Open Doors Program, P.O. Box 426, Philipsburg, PA 16866.
