Allen D. Sprankle, age 60 of Orrtanna, PA died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at his home surrounded by his wife and sons.
He was born in Gettysburg, PA on February 24, 1955, son of the late Lawrence F. & Geneva C. (Adams) Sprankle.
Allen was employed by Specialty Granules Inc. in Blue Ridge Summit, PA for over forty years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield. His hobbies included golfing and hunting and he enjoyed his summer vacation with his family to Ocean City, MD. His memberships included the Waynesboro Eagles Club, Fairfield AmVets , Blue Ridge Sportsmen Club, Waynesboro Moose Club and the Zembo Shriners Lodge in Harrisburg, PA.
Allen is survived by his wife of forty one years, Denice M. (Pecher) Sprankle, two sons; Chris A. Sprankle and wife Marcie of Frederick, MD and Chad D. Sprankle and girlfriend Ashley Greenholt and daughter Lily Greenholt, two grandchildren; Jenna and Lucas Sprankle, two sisters; Pat Joy and husband Mike of Emmitsburg, MD, Theresa "Tet" Bean and husband Bill of Fairfield, two brothers; Dave Sprankle and wife Margie of Biglerville and Larry Sprankle and wife Sharon of Fairfield, PA and a number of nieces and nephews. Allen was predeceased by a brother, John Sprankle.
A Memorial Mass to celebrate Allen's life will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 256 Tract Road, Fairfield, PA with Fr. Robert Malagesi, Celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10-11 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
