She worked as an RN at Springfield Hospital Center until she retired in 2006 to care for her husband.

She loved her family. They brought her great pride and happiness during her life and in her last days. She was very talented and loved to sew, crochet, knit, and bake. Prior to the decline in her health, she was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church; where she led the Lutheran Church Women's group, established a Youth Group Program as well as a nursery Sunday school class which she taught for over 40 years.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Hilbert L. and Denise Bitzel, Jr. of Littlestown, PA; daughters Charlotte "Miss C" I. Bitzel Raver of Taneytown and companion Ralph Walkling, Jill M. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
