Earl Baker Obituary

Earl H. Baker, 92, of Waynesboro, Pa passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 in his home surrounded by his family.
Born October 17, 1922 in Lantz, Md, was the son of Calvin and Rose (Hartle) Baker.
Earl and his wife Arlene F. (Kepner), who preceded him in death on May 20, 2008, were married on February 3, 1947 in Hagerstown, Md.
He lived at his current residence for 68 years.
Earl served in the U.S. Army in WWII in the European Theatre. After his discharge, he was employed by Fairchild Industries for 26 years. He was later employed by the Federal Government at Fort Ritchie and Site R. Earl retired from the government in April 1986.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by one sister, Betty Trite and husband Charles of Pen Mar, Md, and the following children: Lois Sarno (Michael), Greencastle, Pa; Kay Martin (Dick), Hagerstown, Md; Bev Willhide (Larry), Waynesboro, Pa; Susan Ronchi (Robert), Greencastle, Pa; Earl M. Baker (Micky), Waynesboro, Pa; Marcia Baker, Waynesboro, Pa; Robert Baker (Gina), Waynesboro, Pa. He is also survived by the following grandchildren: Chad Utt, Brett Baker, Jennifer Martin, Patrick Warren, Zachary Martin, Kyle Utt and Chris Sarno and several great grandchildren.
Earl loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed gardening and had a passion for golf and was an avid golfer! He enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles and Penn State Football.
Earl was a lifetime member of the VFW of Waynesboro and a Post Member of the Cascade American Legion.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Ringgold Church of Christ, 14414 Barkdoll Rd, Hagerstown, Md.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. prior to the services in the church.
Burial will follow at Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 417 Phoenix Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201, or "Wounded Warrior Project" www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate in Honor of Earl H. Baker.
Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
