P. Heffernan Obituary

P. Kathleen Heffernan, 63, of New Oxford, beloved wife of R. Kirk Heffernan, entered into God's eternal care on her earthly expiration date Saturday, September 15, 2018 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on March 15, 1955 in Syracuse, NY, she was a daughter of Frederick L. Pollman, Jr of FL and the late Anna Jane LaSage Pollman. She was also preceded in death by twin siblings, Michael Anthony Pollman and Michele Annette Olson.  She was a 1973 graduate of Hennenger High School in Syracuse and for over 35 years, spent her career as an independent Insurance Agent before retiring in 2016.
Prior to moving to New Oxford, she was a longtime resident of Waynesboro, PA.  Kathy was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, where she was a Sunday School teacher, played in the handbell choir and was involved with the Vacation Bible School.  She was a member of the South Central Insurance Association (SCIA) for 30 years and enjoyed music and crafts.  She loved playing board games, especially "Can't Stop" and taking trips to the casinos with Sister Mine.
In addition to her husband of 40 years, she is survived by her daughter, Kelly Harbaugh and her husband, Lowell Harbaugh, Jr. of Hanover, PA; a son, Kenneth R. Heffernan and his wife, Donna of Summerdale, PA; two grandchildren, Brayden and Paisley Harbaugh; two sisters, Lois A. Jones and her husband George of Pensacola Beach, FL and Pamela Mueller of Mechanicsburg, PA; two brothers, Frederick L. Pollman, III of Miami, FL and J. Daniel Pollman and his wife, Judith of Holly, MI and many nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Saturday, September 22, 2018 in the Nicarry Meetinghouse of Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA with lunch and memories to be shared.  Private burial with the immediate family in New Oxford Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The National Cancer Institute c/o Director of Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute. Building 31 Room 11A-16, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892 or to St. Jude's Cancer Research Fund, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
