Richard "Dick" G. Shook
Quincy - Richard "Dick" G. Shook, 96, of Quincy, PA, passed away on Sat., Dec. 12, 2020, at Colestock Quincy Village, Quincy, PA. He was the eldest son of Clarence and Tirzah Shook. He was born on June 17, 1924 in Hagerstown, MD. Dick was a World War II U.S. Coast Guard Seaman 2nd Class Veteran.
Dick graduated from Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, PA. He was employed by Norris Properties, Inc. in Norris, TN, then worked for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in Germantown, MD, living in Damascus, MD. After his retirement from AEC and move to Waynesboro, PA, Dick became the Executive Director for the Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce.
As a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, PA, Dick sang in the church choir, was chair of the Finance Committee, a Trustee, the church treasurer and served on the Administrative Board. He was very active in the Waynesboro community by serving on several boards and associations
including the Waynesboro Community Concert Assoc.; The Lunch Place; Waynesboro Historical Society;
Renfrew Museum, and volunteered as an AARP Tax Counselor. As a life-long member of the International Lions Club organization, Dick was a charter member of the Norris, TN Club, Past presidents of the Damascus, MD and Waynesboro, PA clubs, and served on many committees of the three clubs Dick married Julia "Judy" Adams Shook on Nov. 16, 1946 in Germantown, PA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ken Shook (wife Cindy), Concord, NC; a daughter, Sandy Shook Kinsey (husband Lee), Harrisonburg, VA; and an AFS student daughter, Randi Hersleth Melleby (husband Per-Terje),
Rakkestad, Norway; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren (this includes their Norwegian family);
a brother, Ellis I. Shook, Galveston, TX, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later time, with burial at the Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.

I have a lifetime of memories from my awesome Uncle Dick. My greatest memory is of him pulling all my baby teeth for me. It was great fanfare. He was a great man. Love, your niece, Barbie (Barbara Shook Waak)
