A memorial service will be conducted for Donald James Persek, 55, of Vacaville, at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Valley Evangelical
Free Church, 5063 Maple Road, Vacaville. Dr. Raleigh Galgan will officiate.
A native of Fresno, he died in San Jose on March 23, 2006, following a stroke.
Don was a warehouseman at Vacaville's Luckys Distribution Center for 20 years before his retirement in 1995.
He loved spending time with his family, cooking and preparing for the arrival of his first grandchild. He was so excited to be "Gramps." He was a sweet soul who made those who knew him feel loved. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is in the presence of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Sharon, of Vacaville; daughter, Magen Persek Boykin and son-in-law, Brad Boykin of Vacaville; sons, Dustin Persek of San Francisco, Jason and Matt Persek of Orange County; brothers, Charlie Persek of Sparks, Nev., and Ed Persek of Orange County; and one grandchild "on the way."
Don is also survived by his father-and-mother- in-law, Lyle and Yona Zimmerman; and many extended family members of the Persek and Zimmerman families.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jeanette Persek; brother, Joe Persek; and grandparents, Joe "Pop" and Rose Fletcher.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stevens-Johnson Syndrome Foundation, PO Box 350333, Westminster, Co., 80035-0333.

Sharon & Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this very sad time. Each time we saw Don, as we crossed paths in Vacaville, it was always a warm, gentle, kind man that we spoke with. His love for all of you showed in his eyes and his smile and you will hold those memories in your heart and your thoughts always. We will always cherish the memories of our family sharing the day with the Persek/Zimmerman families and all the love that all of you shared with each other.
Love,
Lee & Cris Spangler & Family

Dear Sharon, Meghan, Dustin and the Zimmerman family: When I saw Don's obituary, I couldn't believe my eyes. The memories of your families came flooding back as I had Dustin, Carly and Lucas in my Kindergarten classes at Sierra Vista School many years ago. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers and I know that God is with all of you. Much love, Linda (Slagle) Patrick.
