Emily Perkins Obituary
Emily Ann Perkins, 56, of Vacaville, passed away June 25, peacefully in her sleep. Emily retired after 30+ years with Lucky's Grocery.
A close friend of the family recently said, "She was the smile you knew would be waiting for you when you walked through the door, the second mother to an entire group of young men and women. Her greatest contribution is evident in all of us, that unconditional love that only an angel can display." If anyone spent a few minutes with Emily Perkins, they would know just how true this statement was. She departed us all so early and yet she touched more lives than many could hope to do in a lifetime. She was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to so many. To put it simply, she was the best.
Emily lived her whole life as a third generation citizen of Vacaville.
She supported Vacaville High School athletics and also contributed much of her time in local pageants as a mentor to so many. She loved to watch the San Francisco 49ers on Sundays.
Emily enjoyed going on vacation to Santa Cruz with her family. Her greatest passion was her family. Emily deeply loved her husband, he was the love of her life. Emily's children were her pride and joy and her grandchildren were her world.
She was viewed as the most selfless person with a tremendous amount of love for so many.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Larry Perkins; daughter, Shawnee (Tom) Rapisarda; son, Joseph (Kristin) Perkins; mother, Theresa Lopez; three grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Perkins (JD), Thomas (Tommy) Joseph Rapisarda, and Juliana Rapisarda; also long time family and friends, aunt, Eleanor (Bill) Lopez; uncle, John (Jean) Lopez, and aunt, Annie (Joe) Lopez.
Preceded in death by father, Don McKinney.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 5, from noon to 3 p.m., at Vacaville Opera House.
Arrangements entrusted to the direction and care of McCune Garden Chapel, Vacaville.

Dear Larry and Family:
I just found out about Em, I am so sorry. She was such an important part of my life and everyone's who grew up in Vacaville,especially the Vaca High Class of 1975.May God wrap his loving arms around her and all of you and comfort you now and always. I will never forget the first time I struggled at snow skiing at Sierra Ski Ranch, Emily laughed so hard at me trying to learn on the "Bunny Slope." I will miss her very much.

To the Perkins and Rapisarda families, to lose Emily is unimaginable and makes you think about the things that are truly important ! Shawnee, Joey, Larry and Family,
Your family was such a huge part of my childhood and growing up as our parents were the best of friends. I have so many wonderful memories of our family trips, dinners, sleepovers, Tee Ball games, times at the Hemlock pool and going to school together since pre school! Emily was always like a 2nd Mom during these years and had the kindest of hearts! I always remember her in good spirits, laughing, joking and being a caring, supportive Mom to Shawnee and Joey. Larry would always try his hardest to embarrass Shawnee by showing up in Emily's pink slippers, robe and making his car backfire in front of the kids at school.... or scare us by doing his "Large Marge" impressions. Emily was always by his side laughing this off and giving her big warm smile which made the situation even funnier! Emily was a great lady, entertainer and definitely knew how to party! My deepest condolences go out to the family and I am truly sorry for your loss. I love you guys like family and am always here for you! She is now an angel looking over you all.
