Eugene Carr Obituary

July 1932 - August 2013
Gene was born in Miamisburg, Ohio on July 9, 1932. He spent his childhood there until he entered the U.S. Navy in 1953. After completing boot camp and hospital corpsman training he was assigned to the Fleet Medical Facility in Yokosuka Japan. Gene met Yoko K. while stationed in Japan; they fell in love and were married in 1956.
Gene left the Navy in 1958 to play football at Manchester College in Indiana under a football scholarship. After a football injury caused his loss of scholarship he entered the U. S. Air Force and spent 31 years with the USAF retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant and Group Superintendent at David Grant Hospital at Travis AFB. He had a second career with Solano County as a Sheriff's Deputy.
Gene was a loving devoted husband, an avid reader, an avid golfer, and a great friend to many. He developed consummate skill in the Japanese language as a self taught student of the language. Gene had a quick laugh and was a wonderful conversationalist.
He will be missed and long remembered by all he touched in his 81 years.
Private services were held. Gene was laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery.

Gene was a very good friend who was always there to talk whether it be his favorite subject of golf, his family or just concern about your well being. He was a great conversationalist and will be greatly missed. A TRUE FRIEND

Gene was one of a kind... he did what he thought was right, no matter what others said. He volunteered instead of waiting for the draft and remained in the military when others opposed it. We need more like him. Rest in Peace. Cory Armatrong, a female Vet.
