John Patrick Obele Obituary

Jack passed away peacefully at home on June 15, 2022. He was born in Waterloo, IA to Gerald and Ruby Obele. He spent his childhood in Iowa and Brainerd, MN. He joined the Navy right after high school. He was a signalman on the USS Midway. When he got out of the Navy he headed west to California. He met Barbara Wiederholt at a bowling alley when they both worked in SF. They knew they were meant to be together and married soon after they met. They were married for 45 years when she passed away in 2009. We are glad they are together once again. He worked many jobs over the years but his favorite was truck driver. He was always wanting to learn new things. He taught himself to play the piano and the banjo, painting and photography, as well as learning to fly small planes. He also went back to school and received an AA degree when he was in his late 50s. In recent years he loved playing pool. He played every week with his son-in-law, as well as on a pool league. He proved to be the best player in our family right up until he died.He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and sisters, Michelle and Vicky. He is survived by his children, K.C. and Mike Seidlitz, John Obele, Mike and Carol Obele, and his grandchildren, Ashley and Brian Dearth, Ryan Seidlitz, Sierra, Evan and Morgan Obele; and his siblings, Donna and Terry. He will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon on June 29 at 10:30 a.m.
