Manuela Mendonça Obituary

Manuela passed away peacefully on January 8, 2021. Manuela was born in Berkeley, CA to devoted parents, Joe and Antonia Malta. She was the youngest of three children and dearly loved by her sisters. Clarice Malta and Joann Malta-Weingard. She grew up in Walnut Creek and attended Pleasant Hill High School, Class of 1969. Manuela was a resident of Vacaville for more than 40 years and a respected member of the community.Manuela had a successful professional and personal life. She attended Diablo Valley College and achieved her goal of becoming a licensed dental hygienist, which she practiced for over twenty years. In 1975, she married Joseph Mendonça in Portuguese fashion with nearly 500 people in attendance. She was a devoted wife and best friend to the love of her life for over 45 years. In between dental shifts, Manuela would help build the family business with various duties from bookkeeping to driving the dump truck. She naturally ventured into the real estate business with her construction knowledge, where she practiced for over ten years. Together they raised two children, Joseph and Patrick. Manuela loved to watch her boys play ball and was always in attendance to show her support. She was also a grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren, Henry and Macie, who brought her endless happiness and joy. Manuela showed her family unconditional love and patience and taught them the value of kindness. She went above and beyond to make them feel special and let them know how proud she was of each of them.Throughout her journey, she touched many people's lives, making it one of her greatest passions. She had an incredible ability to make all people smile regardless of their age, class, or gender. Her infinite kindness was experienced by all, including family, friends, and even the stranger in line at Starbucks. People will remember her for being a family woman, a life well-lived, quick wit, and appreciation and compassion for all animals, especially cats and dogs.In remembrance of Manuela's life, the family asks that any gifts or donations be directed to the SPCA of Solano County (www.solanospca.com/donate) or your local animal shelter. These funds are used to improve living spaces, promote educational programs, and used for the medical care of the animals.

Manuela was a wonderful friend at Oak Park Elementary School in Pleasant Hill. She participated 110% in everything she did. She was fair to all, and did not put up with bullies. Wonderful friend, and lady!! I am sorry to have missed her Celebration of Life on Feb. 8th.
