Pamela Lee Pickering passed away March 7, 2009 after several months battling cancer. She is survived by her mother, Viriginia (Pickering) Young, daughter Gina White and husband Barry and son Jeffery Galindo. She is preceded in death by her father, Rex Pickering. Other survivors are brother Richard Pickering and wife Kathy and sister Chris Haberman and devoted companion Allen Cornett - grandchildren Jeff and Sydni Galindo, Brayden and Tanner White and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Pam was born in Port Huron, MI March 25, 1947 and moved from there to California with her family in 1948. Arriving in San Francisco the family lived in the bay area until 1951 when they moved to Modesto. In 1957 her father got a job with Tri-City Gas moving the family to Dixon, a town we never knew existed. Pam attended Dixon schools and soon learned to like life in a small town making many friends that remain friends to this day. She was a mother and a homemaker and used her creative talent to make something out of nothing. She was associated with services clubs in town and offered these many talents for fund raising events. She served on several committees to benefit the handicapped and received awards for her efforts. She volunteered for the Special Olympics and assisted in classroom activities. In 1985 she started work at UCD in the Dept. of Civil & Environmental Engineering until her retirement in Nov. 2008. She was a valued member of the department with her flare for organization to get a job done and old-school ethics to assist in whatever needed to be done to make the department run smoothly. She will truly be missed by her colleagues.
We are sorry to let her go so soon, but it was time. She will forever be remembered by those who loved her.
