Patrick Fleck Obituary

July 30, 1957 - April 12, 2017

Pat was born to Edmund and Veronica Fleck (nee Beeby) on July 30, 1957, in Sacramento, CA. He passed suddenly on April 12, in Concord, CA.

His father's military career took the family to exotic locations: Bermuda, Japan, Oklahoma and finally Vacaville, CA.

He graduated at the top of his class with a degree in accounting from California State University, Sacramento. He earned an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management, where he was a Sloan Fellow. He began his career as a CPA with a major accounting firm, and went on to work for Wells Fargo and JP Morgan Chase. His career also included acting as President of Cooper, a leading design and strategy firm, as well as Vice President and CFO of Sitzmann Morris & Lavis. He was currently employed as CFO for AnswerLab, San Francisco.

After 41 years, he found his Jr. High School crush on Facebook. Checking an item off his bucket list, they married on Valentine's Day 2013, and shared a blissful life together.

Pat was known for his integrity, optimism, and sense of humor. His Facebook posts and debates were legendary. He was a lifelong Oakland Athletics fan, passionate about politics, and a true Francophile.

Pat is survived by his wife, Marylene of Concord; father, Edmund of Vacaville; sister, Elizabeth Fife of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Michael of San Francisco; and his son, Dr. Andrew Fleck and fiancee, Leslie Hopkins, of Scottsdale, AZ. He is pre-deceased by his mother, Veronica, and brother, Steven.

A visitation will be held at McCune Garden Chapel, Vacaville on Wednesday, April 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will also be held at McCune Garden Chapel, Thursday, April 20, at 11:30 a.m.

I am unable to be with family and friends as they say thier good buys to you Pat. I heard you say to me; don't be crazy take the job there is nothing for you to do for me. Know I will be present in spirit, there will be a packed house of all people you have touched directly or through your love to Marylene. I will see you again

Pat Fleck was an extraordinary human being. On all counts, intelligent, learned, creative, funny, warm, humane, conscientious and caring. He had a scientist's mind and a romantic's heart, the soul of an artist and an adventurer's spirit. He had an inner strength that charted his course. Funny, insightful and passionate he gave no quarter and asked for none. He was a kindred spirit and an old soul. I know he waits for us all and his beloved Marylene at that bend in the river, beckoning us on toward tomorrow and what lies beyond.

God speed, my friend. Peace.

Pat Fleck and I had a long and fantastic friendship from Jr. High school through High school in Vacaville. We both worked at the Red Carpet carwash in 1973 together. One of my most memorable moments with Pat was during our trigonometry class during our Junior year with Mr. Carrington. Mr. Carrington had to step of of the class, so Pat and I made paper ball wads, we were trying to throw them way up to the round likes hanging from the ceiling. After about 10 tries, Pats paper ball landed on the light. What we didn't realize was that the paper would catch on fire. Well it did catch on fire and it set off the fire alarms in the school.
What a fun time that was. We got a very sturdy reprimand from the principal, and luckily we didn't get into trouble.
I have some stories to tell about the carwash days too.
RIP Pat, I love you my good friend.
