Daniel Del Vecchio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alameda Funeral & Cremation Services - Alameda on Feb. 3, 2026.
Daniel David Del Vecchio, 56, passed away on January 31, 2026, in Alameda, California. Born in Rochester, New York, Dan ultimately considered Long Beach, California his home.

Dan was the beloved husband of Shannon Del Vecchio, with whom he shared 22 years of marriage, and a devoted brother to Mike (Joyce) Del Vecchio and Don (Claudia) Del Vecchio. He was a proud uncle to Nicole (Jeffrey), Michelle (Andrew), Bianca, Don "The Boy," Hunter and Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Norma Jean Del Vecchio, whom he carried with him throughout his life.

Dan began his professional journey on the ice, starting as an equipment manager while attending Elmira College. He went on to build a career in professional hockey with the Richmond Renegades before advancing to the Connecticut Coasters, Charlotte Checkers, Long Beach Ice Dogs, and ultimately the Los Angeles Kings. After hanging up his skate sharpener, Dan transitioned seamlessly into a successful career in television sales, working across major markets including Boston, Charlotte, Buffalo, and San Francisco-bringing with him the same drive, charm, and competitive spirit that defined his years in sports.

Dan deeply loved his lake home in Greensboro, North Carolina, where some of his happiest days were spent. Golf was one of his greatest passions, and he treasured the many rounds played alongside his best friend Chowder. He also cherished time on the course with his father-in-law Allan, especially during memorable rounds at Pinehurst. Bowling, video games, and sports of every kind rounded out his interests, making Dan a truly well-rounded conversationalist-particularly at any bar where a game was on and stories were shared.

Dan will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and his rare ability to connect effortlessly with people from all walks of life. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026 from 2:00–5:00 PM, at KC Brannigans in Long Beach, California. Dan has requested Hawaiian attire.
