Conrad Branson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alameda Funeral & Cremation Services - Alameda on Feb. 13, 2026.
Conrad Joseph Branson

Resident of Alameda

Jan 30,1944-Feb 5,2026

Conrad Joseph Branson passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 5, 2026. He was born on January 30, 1944, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Clarence Gene Branson and Clara Brylewski.

He spent his early childhood in Visalia, California, before his family moved to Oregon to run a blueberry farm. Conrad always considered Oregon his home.

He attended Southern Oregon University. In lieu of being drafted, he joined the Coast Guard. During his service, he was stationed in the Philippines and New Orleans, and served aboard a cutter, where he worked as a radio operator.

While serving in the Coast Guard, Conrad met his loving wife, Kathleen. They married and moved to Alameda, where they raised four devoted children.

Conrad was also the proud owner of Protex Wax Products and enjoyed working alongside his cherished father-in-law.

Conrad loved being around people. He enjoyed coaching and leading young people in sports and other activities. He also loved spending time with his family, whether camping or playing a good game of cards. Conrad celebrated the little moments in life. He liked to plan surprises and always had something up his sleeve. There was never a dull moment with Conrad.

He never met a stranger.

Conrad is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Kathleen, and his devoted children: Belinda Davis (Christopher), Conrad (Christine), Christopher (Joy), Colin (Ari), and Conrad O'Rourke (Rieko).

He was a cherished grandfather, known as "Hapa," to Colby, Jacob, Callie Anderson (Dillon), Kenna, Camden, Chloe, Caitlyn, Maggie, Conor, and Callum.

He was the dear brother of Connie and Cornelius. He was preceded in death by his siblings Phillip, Clare, Cecelia, Camille, Christina, Jean, Jeanette, Charles, Jim, Helen (Klinker), and Sister Mary Theresa.

Conrad will be laid to rest at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in a private family service.

A celebration of his life will be held on March 21, 2026, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Lincoln Park, 1450 High St., Alameda, CA.
