Don R. Branson

Don R. Branson, age 71, of Creal Springs, IL, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Deaconess Regional Medical Center in Marion, IL.

He was born on October 29, 1954 in Marion, IL, to Kenneth and Katherine "Katy" (King) Branson.

He married Rhonda G. Alsip on September 5, 1987 in Marion and together they have shared over 38 years of marriage.

Don worked as a mechanic for over 50 years. He spent many years of his career working for Vernell's Interstate Service of Marion. After retiring, he worked for Illinois Central School Bus. Besides his mechanic work, Don and his wife spent many years renovating and flipping homes.

Don was a member of First Church of God of Marion. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and tinkering with his cars and trucks. Above all, Don loved being with his family, particularly his granddaughter, creating many wonderful memories that will now be cherished by his loved ones.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Branson of Marion; mother-in-law, Jane (Ray) Alsip Disney of Creal Springs; daughter, Courtney (James) Tanner of Creal Springs; brother, Kenny Branson of Marion; sister, Patti Branson of Marion; granddaughter, Veradon Branson; brothers-in-law, Morgan (Carol) Alsip of Knoxville, Tony Alsip of New Burnside, and Lincoln Alsip of Marion; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Leanna Branson; and father-in-law, Bill Alsip.

Arrangements were entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.

In accordance with Don's wishes, funeral services and interment will be private.
