'What great things he did for our sport

So sadden to hear of Verdan's passing. He was a gentle soul and loved by many. A great pitcher who had some great games with some of the greats. I was happy to see Verdan at our club last year as it has been some time since we last saw each other. RIP Verdan and keep putting those ringers on the golden stakes in Heaven.
Prayers and thoughts to his family.

I always enjoy seeing that tall gentleman dressed in his white clothes. Judy was always close by giving him encouragement.
We both had ties coming from the state of North Dakota. I knew he was having trouble when we both pitched in that last tournament in half Moon Bay. Best wishes to Judy and the rest of the family

We are very sorry to hear that Verdan lost this battle. He was near and dear to all of us @ The Half Moon Bay Horseshoe Club. He was a gentleman on and off the Horseshoe pits, and was instrumental in getting NCHPA reqistered as a non-profit organization. We will surely miss him pitching with us in HMB. He and Judy came to many of our Tournaments. Wish him Godspeed and with the blessings he deserves. On behalf of our Members in HMB.

Judy and the Zelmar family, our sincere condolences with Verdan's passing. He absolutely loved horseshoe pitching and was a stalwart in the Northern California Association. He served as president of our Charter for a number of years and was very instumental in the success of the 1988 World Horseshoe Pitching Championship, hosted in Pleasanton. Thanks for all you did Verdan!
