Brian Shearer Obituary

Brian C Shearer, 50, of Richmond, VA, formerly of Lansdale, died September 15, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was the son of Judith and Richard Shearer of Towamencin Township with whom he had been residing for several months. A 1990 graduate of North Penn High School, he received his bachelor's degree in accounting in 1994, from Washington & Lee University, and later his master's degree in business administration from Cornell University. Mr. Shearer had a long and distinguished 25-year career with the accounting firm KPMG LLP in Richmond, VA, rising to a senior management position before he was taken ill. Brian was an avid NASCAR racing fan, a collector if race car memorabilia and a faithful follower of Philadelphia professional sports teams. A life-long runner and history buff, he especially enjoyed jogging through Richmond's many historic districts. Brian's fighting spirit was evident in every step of his courageous three-year journey against cancer. His walk down this road would not be possible without the help and generosity of family and friends. Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Stacey Lynn Bancroft, her husband, George, and a niece, Jillian, of Lower Providence Township, and many additional relatives. He is also survived by many friends in Richmond, especially Phil and Tara Bennett. Services will be private. Brian's ashes will be interred overlooking the James River in the President's Circle of Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond. The Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale, is in charge of arrangements. Before his passing, Brian established an endowment to be used for scholarships at his alma mater, Washington and Lee University. I recently learned of Brian's passing from a philanthropic newsletter from Washington and Lee. I was Brian's housemate for our fantastic senior year at W&L. So many fond memories came flooding back to me on hearing this sad news. I am proud of his success and lasting gift to old Washington and Lee.

Dear Judy and Richard, I get the Reporter on line and was so sorry to read of Brian´s untimely passing. I can´t imagine the stress you must have gone through the last year and how terrible it is to lose a child. Please know our thoughts are with you and that memories of his apparent interesting life/career will bring some peace in the midst of ongoing grief.
FYI Al and I are at Peter Becker Community, Maplewood Apts and are "hanging in there" altho´ slowed down considerably. Our Jackie is in OR at St. Luke´s Bethlehem doing brain/spinal surgery. Stay well. Shalom
