Daniel Andrew Hoover of Schwenksville Daniel Andrew Hoover, age 88, of Schwenksville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Peter Becker Community. He is the beloved husband of Mary Ellen (Reinford) Hoover with whom he shared over 65 years of marriage. Born June 1, 1927 in New Holland, PA, he was the son of the late Milton and Anna Maria Hoover. Daniel founded Hoover Welding Service in 1953. While working as a plumber, Daniel started taking welding jobs in his free time. When there was enough business to support their growing family, Daniel started welding full time. Services ranged from small welding jobs to the manufacturing of products such as feed bins and automatic water troughs for cattle. After a local steel supplier went out of business, Daniel took advantage of the opportunity to meet the new demands for structural steel. As the demand for structural steel, shearing, bending, sawing and punching increased, Hoover Welding Service incorporated to form Hoover Steel Inc. in 1978. Daniel retired in 2001 after 48 years. Daniel helped build an orphanage named after him in Liberia, Africa, through ACFI. He served on the Board of Teen Challenge. He was a life long learner, enjoyed rock collecting and sharing his collection and knowledge with school children. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother Herbert of Ohio, and his children, Faith R. Hoover of Lancaster PA, Phyllis R. Stoltzfus, wife of Freeman, of Anchorage, Alaska, Bernice R. Jacabella, wife of Gary, of Berwyn, PA, Keith R. Hoover, husband of Carol, of Schwenksville, PA, Bryan R. Hoover, husband of Rose, of Schwenksville, PA, Karen R. Hendricks, wife of Todd, of Harleysville, PA, Kevin Daniel Hoover, husband of Rita, of Schwenksville, PA, Louise R. Hoover of Schwenksville, PA and Dale Ashley, caregiver and family friend. He was preceded in death by his brother George, his sister Jane Harper, his sister Mary Dickenson and his daughter Denise. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 7-9 pm at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA 18969 or on Sunday, Feb. 21 from 1:30-3:30 pm at Indian Valley Faith Fellowship at 190 Maple Ave, Harleysville, PA 19438, where The Celebration of Life follows at 4 PM.
