Jack Rowland Walker

JACK WALKER Jack Rowland Walker, age 84 died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 29, 2014 in Wellsboro, Pa. A long term resident of Chalfont, Pa, he had spent his retirement years between Punta Gorda, Florida and Wellsboro, Pa. Jack was born in Philadelphia, on April 9, 1930, son of John R and Naomi (Frank) Walker. He was first married to Edith M. Leister of Lansdale, Pa. and second marriage to Mathilda H. Facenda of Doylestown, Pa. Predeceased by his son, John R. Walker in 1975, Jack is survived by his wife, Mathilda; his daughters, E. Marcella Shoeman, husband Michael, Waynesboro, Pa and Carol Walker, husband Boyd Taylor, Doylestown, Pa; his grandsons, Michael J. Shoeman, Norristown, Pa and Mark A. Shoeman, Hollywood, California; his brothers, David R. Walker, Ocala, Florida, Charles R. Walker, wife June, Laguna Beach, California, and Robert A. Walker, wife Eileen, Churchville, Pa. Jack grew up in the Rockledge area of Philadelphia, and moved to Chalfont with his parents in 1940. After finishing electrical apprenticeship training with IBEW Local Union #98, he worked for his father in John R. Walker Company, Inc., and later was self-employed. Jack was a sixty-five year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He served as New Britain Township Supervisor from 1965 to 1971. He developed the Naomi Lane, Far View Road property and Blyden Square. A veteran of the Army National Guard; he had been a Boy Scout and Scout Master; Trustee and member of Pleasantville United Church of Christ, Eureka, Pa; Bank Director at local Chalfont bank; participated in the Chalfont Lions Club, and was a free and accepted Mason. The family will be receiving relatives and friends starting at 12 Noon on Sunday, January 25, 2015 for a Celebration of Jack's Life at the Joseph Ambler Inn, 1005 Horsham Road, North Wales, Pa.
