John Mulhall Obituary

John J. "Jack" Mulhall of North Wales died peacefully on November 16, 2022 at home and with his loving family by his side. Jack was the loving and devoted husband of Kathleen R. "Kay" (nee Frush) Mulhall and together they shared 50 years of marriage. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he was the son of the late John N. and Florence (nee Maher) Mulhall and brother of the late Alan, Richard, and Florence Mulhall. Jack met Kay, who was American, in Dublin, when she came into the restaurant where he worked. He made sure to be her waiter. They married in 1972 and relocated to the US, to the Detroit area, in 1974 shortly after the birth of their daughter, Jenna, to be near Kay's family. He became a United States citizen in 1988. Jack had the luck of the Irish and an illustrious career as an executive chef and food service manager, working first in leading restaurants in Dublin and Detroit and for many years at Unisys Corporation, from which he retired in 2012. He was consistently recognized for his tremendous culinary skill as well as his professionalism and his exacting attention to detail. Jack was loved by all who knew him for his charm, his wit, his storytelling, and, most importantly, his warmth and graciousness toward everyone he met. He was one of a kind and he will be deeply missed. In addition to his wife, Jack leaves behind his daughter, Jenna L. Mulhall-Brereton and her husband, Joseph P. Brereton, his sister, Dolores Doyle and her husband, Dennis, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the William R. May Funeral Home, 142 N. Main St. (at Elm Ave.), North Wales, PA 19454 and on Tuesday November 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 424 S. Main St., North Wales, PA 19454. His interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jack's memory to World Central Kitchen, 200 Massachusetts Ave, NW, 7th Floor, Washington DC 20001.
