Karen Koehler Obituary
KAREN KOEHLER Karen l. (Meighan) (Robinson) Koehler, 50, formerly of Lansdale and Tulsa, OK, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was being treated for lung cancer. She was born in Providence, RI December 3, 1962 to Richard and Lois (Shuler) Meighan. She grew up in Lansdale, where she was a member of Plains Mennonite Church and where she attended Christopher Dock Mennonite High School. She received a Bachelor's degree in Christian Education from Taylor University in Upland, IN. Karen was a long-time resident of Tulsa where she was a homemaker, home-school educator of her children, and greatly enjoyed participating on church worship teams by either singing or accompanying on piano or keyboard. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her four unmarried children: Jennifer Joy, T. Troy, Daniel Paul, and Michael David; as well as her former husband, Timothy T. Robinson, all of Tulsa. She is also survived by her current husband, Mark Koehler, whom she married on December 29. 2012. Mark intensely cared for her in the final months of her illness. She is further survived by her siblings: Katherine (Kacy) M. Cope and husband, Tim, of Palmyra, PA; Rachel-Meighan Mantha and her husband, Doug, of Petosky, MI; Rebecca A. Meighan also of Petosky; Bruce R. Meighan and wife Marcia of Mechanicsville, VA; and Jennifer E. Latt and husband, Aung, of Quakertown, PA. She is also survived by ten nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her twin babies, Enoch and Esther, who were lost during a difficult pregnancy. A simple outdoor memorial service to celebrate Karen's life was held on Tuesday, June 25 at Parker Dam State Park, a place which Karen loved and had camped at with her family for many years as well as for her honeymoon. Her parents, siblings, and their families, who had all gathered there for a family reunion camping week, attended it. While there, the family had received the news of her death. Charles L. Winkler, Pastor Emeritus, of Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church of Dubois, PA, conducted this service. A second service was held on Monday, July 1, at the Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens in Webster Groves, MO, which Karen attended briefly. This is the home of Jeanne Thormodson, Karen's sister-in-law, who greatly assisted in organizing Karen's medical care as well as graciously opening her home to Karen and her visiting family members. The love shown by Jeanne to Karen is greatly appreciated by her remaining family. Interment of her cremains was at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery located at 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, MO 63125 In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
