PETER SCHROTH Peter J. Schroth, 69, of Oak Hill, VA passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at Fair Oaks Hospital after a brief illness. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy. He retired as Director of the H.R. Department for Fairfax County Government where he served for 15 years. Prior to that he was Vice President of H.R. for Unisys in Blue Bell, PA for 25 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His interests included woodworking, building and gardening, but above all else his family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Marguerita Schroth, devoted father of Matthew P. Schroth of Herndon, VA and Kathryn M. Schroth of Jeffersonton, VA, and loving brother of Judi Van Hauer of Minnesota. He is also survived by his father- in-law, Edward Baldock of London, England and his nephews, Ben Van Hauer and Adam Van Hauer of Minnesota. A Memorial Service will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA Saturday, January 7 at 1PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) www.nationalcops.org

Another year has passed ... a year when Peter would have had so much fun with his grandsons and granddaughter ... and so we continue our family traditions, especially around the holidays ... and ensure that his ethic for hard work; always having time to help others and enthusiasm to spread good cheer to colleagues, friends and family alike will live on in his grandchildren. It is now eleven years that Peter has been gone. We miss him every day - his integrity, energy and laughter and strong sense of family and friendship. We honor his memory by continuing his traditions, not just around the holidays, but all year long. To all who knew him and remember him ... I wish you a happy 2023.

Dear Peter, remembering you on the anniversary of your memorial service in Fairfax, Virginia. Remembering all the family; friends; GVHS 'family'; Peter's many work colleagues and the incredible 'police family' who came to remember and pay tribute to a very amazing, energetic, kind and loving man. A good and faithful friend, father, brother, uncle and husband who is sorely missed. Peter will be remembered for his many accomplishments both at work and in his many hobbies. With Peter there was never a dull moment and so he has left behind a trail of adventures and memories that so many who knew him can remember - and smile. He would like that.

Maggie and family,
We are so saddened to hear of your loss. Wilor and I were so excited to see you and Peter at the GVHS 2010 reunion and exchanging GVHS memories. We were looking forward to renewing friendships in the DC area in 2012. We are sorry that we cannot be at Peter's memorial service.
