Scott Williams Obituary

Scott R. Williams, of Las Cruces, NM, formerly of Worcester, PA and Harleysville, PA, passed away January 27, 2017 from an illness that he struggled with for many years. He was 51 years old. Born November 27, 1965 in Lower Merion Township, PA, he was the son of Robert L. Williams, Jr. of Franconia Township, PA and the late Gail A. (Wert) Williams. He was a 1984 graduate of Souderton Area High School where he served as class president. He attended Western Maryland University and earned his Associate’s degree in Funeral Service from Northampton Community College. Scott was a licensed funeral director for many years until he changed vocations in 2001 and began employment in automobile sales. Scott was a life-long member of Central Schwenkfelder Church. He was a former member of Central Perkiomen Rotary Club, a past president of the Montgomery County Funeral Director’s Association, and was a strong supporter of The Republican Party. His passions were politics, cars and football. In addition to his father, Robert L. Williams, Jr. and his significant other, Phyllis Gambone, he is survived by a son, Scott “Ross” Williams, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Wendy Williams-Hartman and her husband, Dr. Jeffery F. Hartman, of Harleysville; three nephews, Kalen, Jake and Will; and a niece, Gail. Family will receive friends from 9AM until 12 Noon on Saturday, February 4, 2016 at the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack. Graveside services will be private for the family at Garden of Memories in Worcester. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Central Schwenkfelder Church, 2111 Valley Forge Rd., Lansdale, PA 19446. Wendy, not sure if you remember me, we used to carpool together to Courtney Day Studios many years ago. I knew Scott from our Souderton High days but was friends with him when he attended Western Maryland college. I'm sad to learn of his passing at such a young age. May he rest in peace. Sending prayers to you and your family.

I went to school with Scott, got to know his family during that time. When I was looking to change careers from 20+ years in EMS to the Funeral Service, it was Scott that I reached out to, He and Mr. Williams were very gracious and explained a great deal of what was involved, and the commitment it required to be successful. I'm proud to say Scott was a friend and I have been in Funeral Service now for over 15 years. Thanks for the memories, thanks for the support and time to explain this business to a "newbie" . Godspeed Scott. Prayers to Mr. Williams and Wendy.
