Bob Cheap Obituary

My husband and best friend, Bob Cheap, 67, unexpectedly became ill and passed away at home, per his wish, with his wife, Nena at bedside on Feb 17, 2026.

The marriage between Bob and Nena spanned 41 years--after dating only 3 weeks. And it worked. Bob loved his family, especially his grandchildren, Riley and Sierra Thackery. He was an excellent photographer and had his own dark room where he could develop those pictures. He loved nature, scrap yards and just saw things differently than most people. He collected old cameras and displayed them in a cabinet at home. Bob also loved playing golf with "the gang" as well as his Wednesday golf league.

It is so hard to describe in words just how wonderful Bob was as a husband, grandfather, uncle and friend. I am sure he was welcomed in heaven by his brother, father as well as many other family members, as Jesus stood patiently waiting.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service. When the time is right, Bob's ashes will be released as per his request.

Bob leaves behind his wife, Nena along with sisters, Kathryn Jones, Suzanne Smith; brother, Dan Cheap; grandchildren; son-in-law, Ross Thackery; nephews, Troy Mitchner, Chad Mitchner; all his golf buddies; faithful puppers, Benny, Bella and Howie.

Condolences and special memories may be shared with Bob's family at barkesweaverglick.com.

Arrangements entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.

Bob and I would like to thank the ICU nurses along with housekeepers, dietary staff and RT. He appreciated everything that was done for him by you. And a BIG thank you to Dr. Chada who's kindness and patience surpassed any medical professional we had ever dealt with. He is my HERO. Bob wanted to make sure I thanked him again. As well as Dawn Stidham FNP who's kindness knows no bounds. We were so blessed to have both on our team.

Good night my sweet love. I will see you soon and we will dance again.

Nena, I am so sorry to hear this. Bob was a true friend since our days at Northside. He was a good friend, golfer, softball team mate and coworker. I tried to contact Bob several times since my retirement and was sad that we could not connect. I will always remember our times working and playing together. You and your family are in our prayers.

Nena, we are so sorry to hear of Bobs passing. Richard and I were just talking about him the other day. You are in our prayers. We know one day we will see Bob again! What a great guy he was! Richard really thought a lot of him. Love, hugs and prayers for you and your family. I can't imagine the hole he has left in your hearts. Karen

Bob was a good friend. For a number of years we shared with each other about life and happiness and serenity. When I saw him mid-December, we were happy to again reconnected to say hello and share a hug. I know he will be missed by all. Thank you Nena
