Janice Staublin Obituary

Janice Carol Staublin, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Janice was born on August 29, 1943, in Columbus, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy Harden.

Janice attended Columbus High School and graduated in 1961.

She married Richard L. Battin in July 1962. He preceded her in death in 1969 . In 1978, she married George N. Staublin and he preceded her in death in 2002.

Janice retired from Target after 34 years of employment.

She was a long-time member of the American Legion, VFW, and Moose.

Janice was an avid crossword puzzle fan and collector of Elvis memorabilia. She participated in bowling leagues for many years, and enjoyed playing in Euchre tournaments. She was also an excellent pianist.

She is survived by a daughter, Dana (David) Thoma, of Panama City Beach, FL; sons, Curt (Joy) Battin; and Ryan (Mechelle) Ritchison, of Columbus; and grandchildren, Kyle Battin, Brandon Battin, Skyler Johnson, Katherine Ritchison, and Matthew Ritchison; as well as five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Harden.

A funeral service for Janice will be held Monday, November 14 at 1 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel 3729 25th Street with Father Dan Staublin officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may gather for visitation on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. In Memoriam donations may be made to the Arc of Bartholomew County or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
